CE MARKING FOR GAS APPLIANCES
What is it? The CE mark (an acronym for the French
"Conformité Europénne" ) certifies that a product has met the health, safety
and environmental requirements of the European Union, thereby ensuring consumer
and workplace safety.
All manufacturers in the EU and abroad must meet
CE mark requirements where applicable in order to market their products in
Europe.
Do I need it? Any "appliance
burning gaseous fuels" must carry a CE mark; those that do not are illegal and
potentially dangerous. Should a non-CE appliance be discovered during a gas
inspection by an engineer or local authority, it will be disconnected from the gas supply and condemned, unless
it predates the CE legislation.
Are non-CE
appliances dangerous? Old equipment that pre-dates CE legislation
does not need to carry a CE mark, although operating such equipment may
invalidate your insurance policies. Be wary of manufacturers offering non-CE
equipment, they have removed safety features to cut costs and are illegal.
Is all your equipment CE-approved? All
of Far East Kitchen Solutions products that require CE approval are certified by
BSI (notified body number 0086, formerly Advantica and Germanischer Lloyd) who issue a CE Declaration of
Conformity, Certificate No. ECS 00318. Any appliances we sell manufactured by
third parties also carry the CE mark where necessary.

GAS SAFE REGISTER (CORGI)
What is the Gas Safe Register? Any person and any firm
working on gas appliances or with gas pipework in the United Kingdom is required
by law to be on the Gas Safe Register
(formerly CORGI). This guarantees your safety.
Are you on the Gas Safe Register? Far East Kitchen
Solutions registration number is
13192. Both the company and our engineers have approval to
work on non-domestic catering, pipework and pipework commissioning for both
natural gas and LPG.

Can a
non-registered person work on my gas appliances and pipework? No, they
will not have received the necessary training or posses the knowledge to work
safely with gas. Badly fitted or maintained gas appliances can kill; gas and
cowboys don't mix! You risk gas leaks, carbon-monoxide poisoning,
fire and even explosions.

ISO 9000: QUALITY
MANAGEMENT
What is it? ISO9000 is a
quality management standard that certifies procedures, processes, monitoring and
records, ensuring quality. Most large firms have ISO 9000 and some companies
refuse to work with firms without the accreditation.
Do you have
ISO 9000? To ensure quality customer service, we have held a
certificate since 2005 and also inspected regularly.
Far East Kitchen Solutions is ISO 9001:2008 approved by ISOQAR, our certificate number is 4750/05.

REPLACING THE
THERMOCOUPLE (CE Eco and CE Plus+ wok cookers)
The procedure detailed herein is for the 805062 HT (high temperature) thermocouple, which
replaces the earlier 7000EL type.

How to fit the 805062 HT thermocouple to the Pilot Assembly
(27A1E1M) on a Far East CE Wok Cooker:
-
Disconnect the old thermocouple from the gas valve and
pilot assembly (ensure gas supply is turned off first!)
-
Remove the circlip and large nut and brass sleeve from the
old thermocouple. Save the large nut and sleeve.
-
Carefully remove the circlip from the new thermocouple.
Slide the large nut over the hot junction end (see image above) and refit the
circlip.
-
Put the sleeve back onto the new thermocouple and
reassemble to the pilot.
-
Reconnect to the gas valve then test and leave in full
working order.

Do we import our cookers or
other equipment from China?
 |
The vast majority of the equipment we sell is
designed and built in the UK. A handful of product lines are imported
from reputable companies in Western Europe or the USA (e.g. Imperial
fryers are made in the USA). Everything we sell is fully tested and
approved for use in Europe by the relevant authorities. We sell most
items with a minimum of one years guarantee for parts and labour (please
contact us for warranty details on a specific product).
The CE Front
Trough wok cookers is built at our
own factory in Clay Cross, Derbyshire, England. We started manufacturing
wok cookers in Derbyshire over 25 years ago! Our steamers, ventilation
canopies and shelving are fabricated at the same location.
The CE Hong Kong Turbo wok cookers and
steamers are built in Dongguan by YPT, one the largest
suppliers of catering equipment in Hong Kong. The units we sell have European
approval certificates and safety features (i.e. they are CE marked and
fitted with a flame failure safety device). |
