Founded in 1983

Fergus Liu and Tommy Cheung came from Hong Kong in the 1970s and opened some of the UK’s first Chinese restaurants. They established Far East Industries Ltd in 1983, initially selling catering equipment to the UK's Chinese takeaways and restaurants.

Expansion

Far East was one of the first manufacturers of gas wok cooking ranges, high power appliances that ensure your Chinese meal isn’t soggy! This was followed by the dim sum steamer and other oriental catering equipment. Throughout the 1980s, Far East gained experience in commercial kitchen design, planning permission and kitchen vent/extract systems. It also introduced American-style takeout packaging to the UK with its VIP boxes.

Quality

By manufacturing in the United Kingdom, a high standard of workmanship is ensured. Far East catering equipment is UKCA and CE safety certified and quality monitored by BSI British Standards, then installed and maintained by our Gas Safe Register engineers. There’s over 40 years of experience behind Far East products and services.

Capability

Far East can handle all your commercial kitchen needs from start to finish, entirely in-house. Initial design, planning consultancy, the vent/extract canopy and system, catering equipment supply and install, even the annual maintenance.

Sustainability

Sustainability is at the heart of Far East’s operations. The factory recycles several tonnes of material every year. VIP cardboard food boxes are a popular, environmental friendly, alternative to aluminium and plastic takeaway containers. Far East wok cookers and steamers are optimised to minimise gas and water consumption.

We have a chinese wok cooker that need two new gas valves. It looks like a Far East product so I contacted them regarding spares. The assistance from Chris Liu was excellent. Top marks for customer service!
